Where’s Steve?

Statement from Joey:

This band has been together almost 15 years.  Members have come and gone, but none have been asked about as frequently as our founding drummer and friend, Steve Padin.

To anyone not in his immediate life it may have seemed that he just slowly disappeared without a trace.  To those genuinely concerned about him and his well being,  I assure you he is alive and well.

Over the past decade, Steve has transitioned from being one of the most engaged and connected band members with our fans online to abstaining from social media platforms and requesting exclusion from photos and other content that would be exchanged on the internet unless it was a Kindo sanctioned performance video / photo. This change was prompted by a series of personal resolutions that he developed for reasons he might choose to share with you in the future, but that is not for us to do here.

By the summer of 2018, there were a series of decisions the group made that stood in stark contrast to Steve’s convictions and beliefs. We could not stand down defending our convictions and he could not stand down defending his.

He decided in the summer of 2018 that he would not perform with us until further notice.

The fear of not being able to find a suitable replacement for a drummer like Steve was not pleasant.  I am so thankful that we found Kendall when we did.  Not only has he managed to learn and perform some very challenging material, but he brings a new and exciting perspective and flavor to the Kindo stew in a line of wonderful performers that I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years.

I would ask those of you who find themselves disappointed that one of their favorite members has left, to grieve in your own way as we have.  Then, look to embrace what greatness lies ahead in the people who have stepped up to take their place.

I am genuinely excited about where this project is headed and I would have hung it up if I didn’t feel that way.  Everything is changing and nothing is forever.  Come with us into the unread chapters of this story.  The best is yet to come.

Take a quick look at what we’re up to now.
